Abuse, Love and The Sanctity of the Soul

"I don't know why I let it go on as long as I did. I guess I just loved him/her."

How many times have we heard this coming from the cracked and bleeding lips (and soul) of a victim of abuse? How many times have we tried to find the words to help them through their grief and anger as they realize that their love was not enough to keep the whole house of cards from coming apart at the seams? One question always comes up, the hardest to answer: "How can I walk away when I love them so much? How can I just abandon them, go back on my vows and my promises?" We talk about loving yourself first and how love isn't supposed to punch and frighten and chill with steely glares and withering silence, but it rarely helps to heal the bitter and self-inflicted wound of perceived betrayal.

However, one aspect of love and spiritual teachings of love often goes unspoken and unheard, the aspect that teaches and compels us to love unconditionally the true divine nature of the other, perhaps more than we loves the present incarnation and weakness of that other, and that instructs us to seek to protect them from harm, loss and diminishment in any way possible. Yet this is an important facet to consider, a part of love and our understanding of love that can help us deal with both our love and our pain, that can enable us both to love our attacker, yet move away from their sphere of influence - without guilt, without remorse and without the desperate feeling that we're betraying our vows to stand by their side for better and worse, in sickness and health.

One of the core tenets of this teaching and understanding of love is that when we harm others, we harm ourselves far more. Violence, anger, spite, malice, denigration, exploitation - all of these blacken and shrivel the soul of the perpetrator in far greater measure than the physical damage done to the victim. In fact, many of the non-violent spiritual sects and religions take that stand precisely because of this, knowing that no matter how right their intent or how good the sought-after outcome, no amount of force or violence is ever safe to impose on others lest we break our own hands on the rod we picked up to strike our brother with. Akido, a variation of the martial arts, takes this to it's logical end by teaching only throws, holds and blocks, offering the student no skills that could be used to injure or attack, but only those needed to ward off attack until the aggressor is worn our or defeated by their own violence. This is one aspect of this approach to love that is rarely understood, yet is of singular importance - that by preventing our attacker from harming us, we are not only preventing harm to our own souls but are indeed safekeeping that of our attacker's as well.

And so we come to the meat of the issue. By allowing someone to abuse us, for whatever reason, we are doing them harm by allowing them to harm themselves through violence to us. Removing ourselves from their influence is not a betrayal, nor is it an abandonment - it is an act of supreme love, the prevention of harm to one that we hold dear to our heart. Just as we would not let a child repeatedly injure itself on a hot stove or a sharp implement, we should not allow our weakness and our silence to continue to present to our abuser the opportunity to do more and more harm to their own soul.

If we love them, we owe it to the true "them," the core spark of divine energy that is the soul, to remove ourselves until they have learned the self-restraint necessary to avoid harming us - and through us, themselves, just as we would protect any other loved one from self-injury and danger. By learning to love another so much that we are willing to walk into loss and loneliness to preserve their soul, we remove ourselves and them from the spiraling cycle of abuse that binds us both to our eventual, and mutual, destruction.

What Are The Common Hair Loss Causes?

One of the most worrying aspects of hair loss treatment is the tendency of so many people to seek solutions without first determining what has caused their loss in the first place.

At best, sufferers may waste money on inappropriate 'wonder cures' or even legitimate treatments that unfortunately are not suitable for their particular needs. At worst, some people may be risking their health by self-prescribing powerful pharmaceutical drugs. I don't have a problem with hair loss sufferers saving money by purchasing cheap generic drugs on the internet, but I feel strongly that they should at least seek confirmation from their physician that a given drug matches their individual needs.

Before examining the most common causes of premature hair loss we need to understand that some shedding of hair is perfectly normal. Hairs grow from follicles that are tiny organs in the skin designed to grow a single hair that follows this repetitive cycle:

1. Lengthy growth period (Anagen Stage) - this phase usually lasts between two and seven years with an average growth rate of six inches (15cm) each year.

2. Short transition period (Catagen Stage) - this period of transition lasts for roughly two to four weeks. During this phase the hair shaft becomes detached and moves upwards within the follicle.

3. Resting period (Telogen Stage) - this phase lasts about three months allowing the hair to detach itself prior to falling out.

At this point a new hair begins to grow thus repeating the normal cycle of hair growth. Unfortunately a number of factors can interfere with the natural hair growth process leading to forms of hair thinning or premature baldness.

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss, probably accounting for as much as 95% of pattern hair loss for both men and women. It is usually associated with aging and develops in predictable stages over varying periods of time. Each follicle follows a genetically programmed growth cycle with some follicles coded to remain active for a shorter time than others. This results in the development of the hereditary baldness patterns that are so familiar to us all.

For this type of baldness to occur, the following factors must be present:

1. A genetic predisposition for hair loss to occur (as explained above).

2. The presence of male hormones.

3. Aging - in other words, enough time for the first two factors to exert an influence.

All men and women produce male hormones such as testosterone and DHT. These have a useful role to play in both sexes but obviously occur in widely differing concentrations. It is the higher levels of androgens found in males that explains why this form of hair loss affects men more than women.

In brief, these hormones affect the hair growth cycle as follows:

1. High levels of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme occur in some cells of the hair follicle and sebaceous glands.

2. 5-alpha-reductase converts testosterone into DHT.

3. DHT causes the terminal hairs to miniaturize.

4. This leaves short, soft, fluffy vellus hairs that provide inadequate scalp coverage.

5. The growth phases gradually become shorter until these hairs are lost for good.

Alopecia areata is thought to be an immune system disorder that causes follicles to stop producing hairs in patches on the head. In severe cases it can advance to the stage where all hair on the head is lost (alopecia totalis) or even a complete absence of body hair results (alopecia universalis).

In most cases the hair will reappear on its own but until then, the condition can be very distressing to sufferers particularly as its cause can be difficult to determine. If you feel you may be suffering from this form of hair loss, seek the advice of your physician who will carry out a physical examination and conduct blood tests to help determine the cause.

Telogen effluvium is characterized by a general thinning or shedding of hair over a period of months and is most commonly found in people who have recently experienced trauma. Common causes include childbirth, major surgery, severe illness, psychological stress and chemotherapy. The good news is that the abnormal growth behavior associated with telogen effluvium is temporary and reversible.

There are numerous other less common hair loss causes that need to be discounted before a course of treatment is chosen. Traction alopecia is the loss of hair from constant pulling, usually as the result of hair styling. Broken hairs can result in thinning, often caused by excessive styling or exposure to chemicals and sun. Finally, severe illnesses or nutritional deficiencies can cause side effects that may include degrees of hair loss.

I hope this brief article has gotten across the message that diagnosing the real causes of hair loss is not always a straightforward process. Once you and your physician have identified a cause, then you can work towards restoring your hair to its former glory. And the good news is, most forms of hair loss can be treated successfully. The next article in this series will look at some of the best hair loss treatments currently available.

Can Caffeine Be Lethal?

A lethal dose of caffeine for a healthy, adult male is about 10 grams. That’s about 70, eight-ounce cups of the strongest coffee you’re ever likely to drink. There has never been a reported case of a fatality from drinking too much coffee. The reasons why this is so are twofold.

First, coffee is very quickly metabolized and excreted, and therefore, it’s almost impossible to accumulate a lethal dose in our systems. Secondly, drinking that much coffee is likely to cause extreme vomiting, and this, again, will reduce caffeine accumulations. But all of this is not to say that people have not been killed by caffeine overdose. It’s caused cardiac arrest and respiratory failure.

One of the first such cases reported in recent history was in 1959 when a 35-year-old woman was accidentally administered 3.2 grams of caffeine in a solution intravenously.
The patient began convulsing, stopped breathing and died. Still another hospital patient was given 0.4 grams of caffeine in the same solution and experienced convulsions.
Fortunately for this patient, the error was discovered in time, the caffeine solution was immediately halted, and the patient recovered. And there are other records of caffeine
overdose. A five-year-old girl ate handfuls of Tri-Aqua tablets one Sunday evening, apparently thinking they were candy. Tri-Aqua is a diuretic and contains about 99 mg of
caffeine per tablet. Within an hour, the little girl complained to her mother of “cold chills” and stomach cramps. Her condition steadily worsened and, within four hours, she
was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. Her caffeine intake had exceeded five grams. She had consumed 54 tablets.

A 45-year-old woman was given 50 grams of caffeine instead of 50 grams of glucose during a routine test. A few minutes later she began to vomit. She died about two hours
later. Her caffeine intake had been enough to kill five healthy men.

But, not all of the caffeine deaths have been accidental. Caffeine also provides the mentally disturbed with a method to commit suicide. One case involved a 27-year-old
woman who was found dead in bed with a suicide note. Her death was ascribed to an overdose of caffeine. The vehicle was apparently an over-the-counter drug.

Power of Focus !

If you are anything like me, you probably find yourself often thinking of new projects to start, new things to achieve.I did that in my beginning on Internet. That in itself is very beneficial and indeed a required ingredient for success. The trick is to know where to draw a line.

The trap I kept falling into was hoping and looking for new and better programs all the time, easy to find new once, but i forgot about them the next day, instead of working on the programs you already joined and going for the results there.

I would often actually get dragged into gathering more and more information on new opportunities. I would spend time on developing them right then and there. I would be stealing the precious time away from the current project I was supposed to be working on. Obviously, it was a trap.Be aware of this trap! The current project would suffer, because there is only so much time in a day.No one gets results form Surfing the Internet for "Get Rich Tomorrow "and thinking, there must be an easier way! There is not, only hard work will give you success.Focus and work on your Business !

Then I would get discouraged with my current project and drop it because I didn't see any results. Think long term! One of my future projects would become my current project for the time being, until I'd drop it in favour of the next project. Its a trap, yes.

This is how most of New to Internet do it!!Dont do the same! Can you see the trap? And it gets even worse: If you keep on doing this for long enough, you will actually program your subconscious mind NOT to complete a project EVER. You will forever keep on failing. Eventually it may even filter through to other areas of your life.I did the same in the beginning,so much waste of time and money!

There is to many Traps out there. It's easy to see how working on your online business can become such a trap quickly. Internet is overloaded with information. I won't even mention the plethora of rubbish that exists online. But there is so much valuable information out there, go and find them, that developing your online business to a profitable stage can take forever, UNLESS you start employing the tremendous power of focus. Its the only way to do it,when you understand this you will get results!

Here is only one way, focus. To be a success in your online venture, you must not be working on more than two projects at a time, EVER. And preferably work on just one project, particularly if you only do your online venture on part-time basis.

And by that I mean, don't get distracted. Don't dilute your precious time. Work on your project, whatever it may be, until completion.Learn the program, take the training section over and over again, until you really know how it works!

Many programs can be difficult to understand, but take your time to understand it!

Learn how to!By all means, plan you future. If you want to work on the future ideas, set an hour per week aside for doing just that. And then each week spend that hour thinking about your new projects, write them down. When the time is up, go back to your current project.

I will guarantee you one thing: If you develop and use the power of focus, your success will get better and better with each project. Thats how i got from not getting any results to see great results every week.Focus.
